Areas of Interest

Manuel’s research is located in the area of adaptive database systems and machine learning for data science workloads. His research interests include adaptive query execution, integrated machine learning, self-adapting database engines, and new advances in storage hardware.

Background

Manuel studied Information and Computer Science at the University of Konstanz. In 2014, he received a Bachelor's Degree in Information Engineering with a specialization in visual analytics. He acquired a Master's Degree in Computer and Information Science in 2016. In his Master's Thesis, Manuel designed and developed a hybrid storage layer to unify row- and column-oriented table layouts. He joined the Database and Information Systems group as a PhD student in 2016.
