Background

Silvan, the grandson of Manfred Reiner, the famed author of all nine volumes of "Plochinger Wegspuren", initially set out in a rather misguided way to study physics. Through a stroke of luck, he changed his mind and decided to pursue a real career by enrolling as a student of Computer Science. A couple of years later and yadda-yadda-yadda, Silvan is now a PhD student in the Database and Information Systems research group, where he works on the application of machine learning to database systems.
